Volée is part of an ongoing research and production project that I call Transduction. Volée aims at the production of an interactive performative audio installation. Volée Will be produced in 2006 and will be the object of an artistic residency that I will do at the center AdMare situated in Cap-aux –Meules aux Îles-de-la-Madelaines, Québec (Canada).
Volée will make use of three Kites on which light accelerometer electronic modules, will be fix. These electronic modules will continuously send RF that will be analyzed by the LPS. The LPS will allow me to obtain in real time the 3D position (X, Y and Z) of each kite while being manipulated. Using Pure Data, I will then integrate these data as variable into sound algorithms. Sound thus created will be distributed in a multiple speakers system.
By manipulating the kites, users will then create sound that will be directly influence by the movement and position in the sky. User will then create an evolutive and performative sound piece. The general public will be invited to manipulate the Kites during the creation process. In its final version Volée could be presented on a beach, in a vacant lot or any other open public space.
